1st January 2007
First post of 2007

The weather's beautiful today. Ample sunlight, cool breeze, fresh air, what more could one ask for? It is a great day to go to the beach and enjoy a tan. But sadly, that isn't going to happen. Partly due to the fact that I still have my AMP project to do and pieces to practice for the Philwinds auditions.

Anyway. this post will cover my thoughts on the need for new year resolutions, and the recount of the events that happened on 31st December 2006.

Nowadays, people pen their resolutions in blogs such as this one. But really, what are new year resolutions for? According to Wikipedia,

A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a
project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted
as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments
normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until the set goal has been
achieved, although many resolutions go unachieved and are often broken fairly
shortly after they are set.

Quite an honest explanation of the term new year resolution. Especially the part where "many resolutions go unachieved... broken fairly shortly after they are set". My 2006 new year resolutions are generally unaccomplished. That is why for 2007, I shall make less demanding resolutions. Maybe then I can fulfil these commitments.

  1. Be happy
  2. To sustain what has been passed down to me
  3. **private** to confirm my feelings
  4. Improve my command of the English language
  5. To read at least 6 novels

Moving on the the second part of this post, we have a short summary of our eventful new years eve.

Continuing on from 31st December's post, I went to Dhoby Ghaut. Arriving earlier than Wei Sheng, I went to the 2nd hand bookstore to look around for books. Finding nothing interesting except for the two book of lost tales by J.R.R. Tolkien, I met Wei Sheng and then went to Times bookstore to look for more books. Ended up buying a compilation of excerpts from local novelists. Not a bad buy. Quite insightful as the plots are all very fresh. Moreover, some of the authors are as young as 14 years old!

After buying that book, we went to TCC for another stoning session. Ordered an Azuki coffee cooler this time round. And we stoned there. For a couple of hours. Then went to the arcade to shoot some balls. Old people are like that. Love to stone at classy places. After that, we hopped on a bus and went to Marina Square. Walked around aimlessly then went to Ang Mo Kio for dinner. Following which we went to another of our regular hangout - Bliss cafe at Punggol Park. Countdown there and then went home for another stoning session on the net.

During the aimless wandering at Marina Square, I met quite a lot of people. Got seniors from NP, juniors from Xinmin and friends from NYP. Totally unexpected. But it still is a pleasant surprise.

Well, in short, new years eve was very exciting in a stony way.
